Keighley Cougars 32 Oldham 24: Paul March left frustrated by his victorious Cougars

Keighley player-coach Paul March could not hide his frustration after his side turned in a Jekyll and Hyde performance against Oldham.

The hosts led 26-0 at half-time and should have coasted to victory, but the visitors roused themselves in spectacular fashion after the break to give March’s side a huge fright.

March said: “To be in the position we were in at half-time and to finish only holding on to a victory simply isn’t good enough.”

Keighley assumed early control as March touched down before Paul Handforth added a second. Handforth was instrumental and orchestrated the next try when his clever short pass exploited a gap in the line to send Josh Lynam over the line.

Paul White completed the first-half scoring with a brace of tries.

Oldham opened the second half with two tries in two minutes with Oliver Roberts breaking the line to set up Steven Roper before touching down Lewis Palfrey’s grubber kick.

Handforth sealed the victory when he scampered between the posts before Palfrey and Crowley hit back for Oldham.
