Keighley Cougars 4 Halifax 34: Cougars toil at home to leave Halifax in clear

TWO-TRIES apiece for Steve Tyrer and Ryan Fieldhouse and Wayne Rettie saw Halifax to victory at Cougar Park.

Fax opened the scoring with Fieldhouse’s offload sending Tyrer over before he added the extras. Scott Murrell’s cut-out pass put in Rettie in the corner. Tyrer converted and then went in again for his second

Fieldhouse was next to cross just before half-time to put the visitors 22-0 up at the break.

Cougars then hit back after the break as Scott Law and Paul March combined to get the ball away to Danny Jones, who battled his way to the line.

But any chances of a comeback or even a bonus point were put to bed when Fieldhouse went in again on the back of Dane Manning’s reverse pass and Rettie grabbed his second.

Tyrer goaled to seal a deserved win.
