Kopczak and Scruton return to boost Bulls

The sight of Wales front-row Craig Kopczak and England international Nick Scruton entering the fray is a welcome one for coach Mick Potter as they visit Super League’s second-placed team.

Kopczak has been out since injuring an ankle during the opening carry of their game at Magic Weekend in May while former Leeds Grand Final winner Scruton has missed four-and-a-half months with a dislocated shoulder.

France captain Olivier Elima is absent with his own shoulder problem but Potter will feel confident his pack has an added air of experience as the turmoiled club begins attempting to overhaul the six-point deduction it received this week for breaking insolvency rules.

That now leaves them outside the play-off zone but, before losing 34-16 at Leeds Rhinos last Friday, determined Bradford had won all three games since falling into administration.

They competed hard against the champions only to see frustrating mistakes cost them dearly.

Potter, still working voluntarily ahead of what could be his final game, said: “Eighteen points were scored directly from our errors without Leeds even having to play the ball.

“I think if we can rectify that then we can compete against any team.

“Against Warrington we need to be at our best and we need to come up with some good plays.

“We won’t be able to dip our heads in the sand and can’t just tap the ball and run up the field.

“We need to test ourselves and take some risks because we have to score points against them.

“We know Warrington are going to score points against us no matter how good our defence is on the day.”

England centre Ryan Atkins is a surprise omission for Warrington who welcome back Simon Grix from injury.
