London Broncos 6 Castleford Tigers 54: Rampant Castleford pile on the agony for Broncos

Centre Shenton crossed for two tries and was involved in three others as the visitors maintained their excellent start to the season.

The hosts made a number of positional changes for the clash, with Denny Solomona switching to full-back, and Mike McMeeken and Mason Caton-Brown teaming up in the centres.

Castleford fielded former Broncos Luke Dorn and Michael Channing in their starting line-up, with James Clare and Jamie Ellis coming in for Richard Owen and Marc Sneyd respectively.

With 11 minutes on the clock, Daryl Clark and Ellis combined well to send Channing over in the corner. The Tigers were in the ascendency by midway through the half and came close to adding a second score when Shenton had a try chalked off by the video referee for straying into touch.

Shenton turned provider on 22 minutes, breaking clear and then delaying his pass to allow Oliver Holmes to stride over.

Castleford struck again on 31 minutes, Shenton grabbing a deserved try after he snagged a teasing Liam Finn kick.

The Broncos’ Atelea Vea was then sin-binned for holding down Shenton as he strode clear. The Tigers then had a further try denied as Clare was adjudged to have slid into touch.

Video referee James Child was involved again before the break, this time confirming Castleford’s fourth try as Finn touched down.

The visitors struck again on 46 minutes, Craig Huby romping over after taking a Finn pass.

A sixth try soon came for the visitors through Justin Carney after good work by Shenton.

By now the Londoners were falling apart at the seams, Shenton teeing up Dorn for a further score on 54 minutes, before showing great speed to add his second try soon after.

Carney then added his second try on the night with 15 minutes remaining.

The Londoners finally notched a try in the closing moments when McMeeken crashed over after a short pass from Scott Moore.
