The 24-year-old showed his value once more with a fine performance controlling Bradford from stand-off yesterday as they stunned Super League Salford Red Devils 41-10.

Addy is originally a loose forward but showed his creative quality in the absence of injured half-backs Lee Gaskell and Harry Siejka.

Lowes said: “We’ve played all year without two recognized half-backs together.

“We had it for about 10 minutes at Wakefield before Gaskell got injured.

“But the one consistent has been Danny Addy and I don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves from media but the fans as well.

“He can slot in and do a fantastic job. He is an outstanding rugby player and I’m really pleased he got the man of the match. It was fully deserved.

“We performed really well today. I believe in this bunch of players and when we perform like that we have some rugby in us.

“James Clare came up with one of the best tackles I’ve seen and I thought Dane Nielsen was solid on his debut.

“We put what happened at Wakefield to bed last Sunday and we’ll put this to bed tomorrow and move on to the next game.”

Salford acting-head coach Ian Watson sid his side were guilty of “falling in loves with themselves” after winning their opening couple of qualifiers.

“It was embarrassing from us,” he said.

“We were a different team from what played last week and in the Wakefield game.

“It’s an attitude thing, a mentality issue with us.

“They get a couple of wins and then fall in love with themselves and forget what’s got them there. Hard work.

“We spoke all week about not underestimating Bradford – it’s been a big focus – but the mentality wasn’t quite right and there are probably individuals who have under-estimated
them.

“You know that coming to Bradford away it’s always going to be tough and if you don’t have the right mindset you’ll get caught,” he added.

The RFL are set to investigate after some Salford fans let off a number of flares in the away section during the second half.
