Making the case for organic fare

Christmas is coming the geese are getting fat. And if you want to know how they are reared and fed before you buy, Jo Cartwight's organic farm is the place to be today.

She is offering tours to anyone who wants to come and see how all her poultry and meat is produced. Jo, a regular winner in the Yorkshire Post's Taste Yorkshire awards, says it is important for people to see what they are getting when they pay a premium for organic produce.

Her chickens are 7.70 a kilo, and as she points out, you can get two frozen supermarket chickens for that kind of money. Jo is no stranger to this sort of event. She does a free monthly walk round the farm and is a Yorkshire pioneer for community-supported agriculture. She now has supporters and branches in Leeds, Otley and York.
