March happy to stay on sidelines

SUCH is the form of promoted Hunslet Hawks that fit-again player-coach Paul March is ready to leave himself out of tomorrow’s Championship game with Featherstone Rovers.

The former Wakefield Trinity star has been injured but was so impressed with Easter Monday’s 50-12 win at former club York that he sees no reason to change the squad. “I’ve a chance but I probably won’t play just because of how the team’s running,” he said.

“To get back-to-back wins was very pleasing and we know we’ve got the squad to do well.”

York coach Dave Woods has a fully fit squad for the visit of Dewsbury after Monday’s morale-boosting 16-10 win at Toulouse but says: “It’s not so much those two games over the Easter weekend that get you, it’s the one the weekend after, and then the weekend after that, that you need to make sure you prepare for.”

Dewsbury suffered back-to-back defeats and coach Warren Jowitt admitted: “We put in a massive effort and played very well against Batley, but against Halifax the lads’ energy had gone.”

Halifax hope to back up their first win with another over Barrow as Batley head to Leigh.

In Championship One, Keighley’s Craig Moss is doubtful (hip) for their visit of South Wales while Doncaster hope to have Hull pair Chris Green and Nev Morrision back away to Oldham.
