McDermott hoping to make Wolves feel cold

The West Yorkshire club have won all four of their games so far this season ahead of tonight’s trip to Cheshire.

However, Warrington, who have lost just one of their Super League fixtures this season, have not been defeated by Leeds at the Halliwell Jones Stadium since 2011.

“It hasn’t been our best hunting ground and they are a good team,” said McDermott, considering the Wolves also pushed St George Illawarra close in the recent World Club Series.

“We have a huge amount of respect for Warrington in our camp.

“We know what they can do and we’ve been on the end of some of their hot days.

“That’s something you’ve got to be aware of when you play Warrington – the hot days they have when they come out of the blocks and pretty much anything and everything goes well for them.

“You control your own destiny and they are certainly very good at doing that. That is something we are bracing ourselves for this weekend.”

Given Leeds have been behind at half-time or in the second half of three of their four league games so far it is understandable why there may be concern that a side of Warrington’s 
quality – they struck three tries in nine first-half minutes to take control against Hull KR on Sunday – could do irrevocable damage.

McDermott knows an 80-minute performance will not occur – “there’s no such thing” – but he is expecting greater consistency from his side.

A fit-again Brett Delaney, the Australian second-row, should strengthen them in his first appearance of the season.
