That started yesterday with Leeds sending four of their players on a month’s loan to the Championship outfit who are struggling for numbers after being reformed following last month’s financial collapse.

Half-back Jordan Lilley, 20, 19-year-old hooker Sam Hallas plus 18-year-old forwards Josh Jordan-Roberts and Mikolaj Oledzki could all debut in Sunday’s opening fixture at Hull KR when they start the season on minus 12 points.

McDermott, a former Bulls player, said: “I know our club is going to do some stuff behind the scenes with them, too.

“It’s in everybody’s interest to make them as good as they can be and we’ve a great history in loaning out players and helping other clubs as best we can.”
