Rovers forced to do without Allgood after ban

The former Parramatta prop, who has started all five games for his new club so far this season, was sin-binned after raining blows on Catalans Dragons scrum-half Scott Dureau during Rovers’ 50-20 win over the French side on Sunday.

Allgood admitted the grade C offence when he appeared in front of an independent Rugby Football League operational rules tribunal and was also fined £300.

Catalans centre Ben Pomeroy was given a one-match ban for his part in the subsequent melee.

Josh Bowden (Hull), Ben Kavanagh and Danny Tickle (both Widnes) all avoided any further action after admitting minor grade A offences arising out of matches at the weekend.

Rovers, meanwhile, have released hooker Keal Carlile following the arrival of Shaun Lunt.

The 24-year-old Carlile was handed the No 9 shirt after Josh Hodgson left to join Canberra Raiders at the end of last season but lost his place to French international John Boudebza and dropped further down the pecking order behind Lunt.

Hull KR coach Chris Chester said: “I sat down with Keal after we brought Shaun Lunt in and we had an honest conversation. He needs to be playing week in, week out to continue his development and he understood that we weren’t in a position to guarantee him that moving forward.”

Leeds Rhinos’ England international Zak Hardaker was released by police after admitting assaulting a student, it emerged yesterday.

Leeds announced that their full-back was free to resume playing after West Yorkshire police concluded their investigation into an incident in the city last month.

Hardaker, 23 and his 19-year-old team-mate Elliot Minchella were both questioned by police and have since been released without charge.

However, it has been revealed that both men admitted the assault and agreed to pay £200 in compensation and write a letter of apology to their 22-year-old victim under a “community resolution”.
