Salute for the big show

Joan Woodall, tractor section secretary of Honley Show, salutes her audience from the seat of a 1959 Fordson Power Major at last year's show.

This year's takes place today at Moor Lane, Farnley Tyas, near Huddersfield, HD4 6UW.

It is one of the biggest shows in the Yorkshire calendar in terms of attendance, thanks to its weekend scheduling and an emphasis on public attractions – which this year includes a fly-past by a WW2-vintage Dakota DC3 at 3pm.

But it also has a full range of livestock competitions.
