Sammut linked as Hull look to recruit

Hull FC are being linked with Leeds Rhinos' young full-back Ben Jones-Bishop and Crusaders' scrum-half Jarrod Sammut as they look to bolster their squad before the start of the new season.

Head coach Richard Agar has space on the salary cap after allowing ex-Kangaroo Shaun Berrigan an early return to Australia and has long been in the market for an extra half-back to cover for the injury-hit Sean Long and Richard Horne.

The exciting Australian Sammut, 23, would fit the mould and is believed to be keen on a move to the KC Stadium.

Hull do have an overseas spot available but the scrum-half – who made such an impression for the Welsh club after joining from Penrith last April – is under contract and the Crusaders are unlikely to let him go for free.

Meanwhile, Jones-Bishop, 22, is well thought of at Headingley where he has returned following a successful season-long loan at Harlequins but he knows he will have a battle on to usurp former Kiwi full-back Brent Webb in Leeds's starting line-up.

Hull have also been mentioned as potential suitors of Warrington's out-of-favour teenage England scrum-half Richie Myler in a loan deal for 2011 while former Black and Whites favourite Paul Cooke is still seeking a new club following his release from Wakefield.
