AS ever, Super League threw up a number of surprises at the weekend during Round Five - with a number of Yorkshire clubs struggling to get their seasons up and running.

Here, Peter Smith, picks out the highlights from another frentic weekend of action in the top-flight.

1: Hull FC lack a plan B.

They went for size and tried to overpower Widnes Vikings, but when that failed they fell apart.

2: Castleford Tigers can’t afford any more injuries.

They were without six senior players in the defeat by Salford and Luke Dorn joined the list after straining a hamstring.

3: Whoever Wakefield Trinity Wildcats appoint as coach has a big job on his hands.

The 44-4 defeat at St Helens took their points against tally to 196 in just six games.

4: Jordan Tansey’s debut for Huddersfield Giants on loan from Wakefield almost completed the set of Yorkshire Super League clubs. Only Hull KR are missing from his cv.

5: If it wasn’t for bad luck, Terry Campese would have none at all.

The Hull KR talisman returned from a knee reconstruction against Huddersfield, but lasted only 42 minutes before damaging a hamstring.
