Student of year receives prize

Helmsley young farmer Philip Dunn, centre, has been named the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers Student of the Year.

Mr Dunn, a final year student at the University of Newcastle, was awarded a 1,000 cash prize by Dairy Crest and the university received 500 towards a dairying educational project.

He is pictured receiving his award from left, Dairy Crest's milk procurement director, Mark Taylor and RABDF chief executive Nick Everington.

Mr Dunn is planning to manage his family's 193-acre tenanted unit at Helmsley in North Yorkshire after leaving university.

He said: "My objective is to build a successful, sustainable business."
