Super League: Points to ponder as Hull make early impression

Six things we learned from Super League round two:

1: It is early days but Hull look the real deal. Their 38-10 win over Catalans Dragons in Perpignan was hugely impressive.

2: Huddersfield Giants may have to do things the hard way this year but there are positive signs. A makeshift team were within three minutes of a notable win over Wigan.

3: Hull KR can not afford any more injuries. Their squad looked light to start with and they lost forward James Donaldson with a damaged hand in the heavy defeat at Warrington.

4: Luke Gale should be England’s half-back in this year’s Four Nations. He was superb, running the show and kicking seven goals, as Castleford thumped neighbours Wakefield.

5: Avoiding being in the ‘million-pound game’ has to be Wakefield Wildcats’ realistic aim this year. Successive defeats suggest it will be another long, tough season.

6: It might seem like it but it is not all doom and gloom for the champions. Leeds lost at home to Warrington and away against Widnes in the regular season last year and finished top of the table.
