Tony handed route back by Wakefield

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have signed former New Zealand international Motu Tony.

The experienced utility player, who can operate at hooker, full-back and wing, returns to Super League in 2011 for the first time since leaving Hull FC last year.

Tony, 29, has had spells with rugby union clubs Hull and Nottingham since, as well as a brief time in the Championship with Whitehaven earlier this season.

His last Super League game was at Warrington 16 months ago and he is now looking to

re-establish himself in the top flight.

Wildcats head coach John Kear said: "I have worked with Motu at Hull FC and am delighted that I have the chance to do so again, here at the Wildcats.

"He is a great addition to the team while his versatility on the field and international experience will add great depth to our squad."

Tony was part of Kear's victorious 2005 Challenge Cup side, making more than 100 appearances for the Black and Whites, including the Grand Final a year later.

He also played in a NRL Grand Final with New Zealand Warriors and helped the Kiwis stun Australia in the 2005

Tri-Nations.

Tony admitted: "I'm very grateful for the opportunity I've been given to prove myself again and can't wait to get started for Wakefield."
