Toulouse Olympique 34 Keighley Cougars 26: Cougars snatch point in defeat to Toulouse

Keighley celebrated their debut across the Channel by registering their first competition point of the season in the Co-operative Championship.

When hooker James Feather managed to force the ball over the line in a three-man tackle in the very last minute the Yorkshire side had bagged a well-earned defensive bonus point.

They were behind by 10 points in as many minutes when the home side's winger Bienes and then hooker Cedric Gay crossed for tries with Nathan Wynn adding a conversion.

The turning point of the match however was the dismissal of the French side's imposing Australian prop Brendan Worth on 20 minutes after an altercation with Keighley's Andy Shickell.

Keighley made their advantage tell when Olly Pursglove crashed over in the left hand corner.

Unfortunately for Barry Eaton's side this unconverted try was neutralised a couple of minutes later when Gay burrowed over for his second try.

The 12-man French outfit dictated play and roared away into a 26-4 lead with two converted tries from Rory Bromley and Sebastien Planas.

With Toulouse tiring later on the Yorkshire side came back into the contest led expertly by Danny Jones and Jonny Preseley.

The latter created a superb try, re-gathering his own kick and sending Gavin Duffy in. Clement Bienes and then Jones crossed the whitewash for the Cougars but Toulouse had done enough especially when Kevin Larroyer grabbed their sixth try.
