Anderson said: “He knows how to finish and obviously has some good people in front of him at Warrington who are flying.

“A few weeks ago, when we were struggling to get 17 here, he was someone I spoke to Tony (Smith) about.

“Tony was within his rights to say ‘We’ll get past Easter and see where we’re at’ and that’s what happened. He’s still not had a shot there so I thank Tony for letting us bring him here.”

Huddersfield’s hopes of denying Hull a fifth successive win are increased given the home side will be without in-form captain Gareth Ellis and Australian back-row Mark Minichiello due to slight knocks.

Tonga international winger Fetuli Talanoa could return, though, and young back-row Jansin Turgut is looking for a chance.

n Castleford Tigers forward Lee Jewitt will leave at the end of the season to take up a one-year deal with NRL champions North Queensland Cowboys’ feeder club Townsville Blackhawks.

Jewitt, 29, joined Castleford in 2014 from French club Limoux.
