Video: Surf’s up at Castleford

There was a chance to ride the waves in land-locked Castleford today.

The Xscape leisure complex has introduced wave simulators that let riders experience Hawaiian-style waves whilst perfecting their surfing skills, without the need to visit the ocean and wait for the right conditions.

Two FlowRiders have been installed next to each other. The custom-built waves have 60,000 litres of water pumped around at 40,000 litres a minute with speeds reaching 30mph.

PY Gerbeau, CEO of Xscape said: “This addition to Xscape is perfect as it supports and compliments Sno!zone and the skate park perfectly.”

Yesterday members of Castleford Tigers and others got a chance to try out the ride ahead of it opening to the public on Saturday.
