Wakefield out of administration as Glover takeover goes through

WAKEFIELD Wildcats were brought out of administration this afternoon when the takeover by local businessman Andrew Glover was completed.

A new company, called Spirit of 1873 in recognition of the year the original club was formed, bought Wakefield for a nominal fee from administrators O’Hara and Company, who were appointed last Friday to avoid a winding-up petition brought by HM Revenue and Customs.

A two-man board, comprising Glover and chief executive James Elston, will run the new club alongside new general manager Davide Longo, with John Kear staying on as head coach.

“It’s been tough for the last few weeks but we’ve got there,” Glover told a press conference at Belle Vue.

“The security of the club is now solid and everyone can concentrate on doing their job.”
