Warrington 22 Huddersfield 34: Cudjoe clinches play-off shock

Huddersfield Giants finally gained some revenge for their Challenge Cup final defeat last season when they knocked Warrington Wolves out of the Super League play-offs.

The Giants will now play either St Helens, Wigan or Leeds Rhinos next weekend and stand just 80 minutes away from the Grand Final at Old Trafford on October 2.

The Giants were coasting to victory in their elimination semi-final at the Halliwell Jones Stadium when they produced a near-perfect first 40 minutes to establish a 23-0 interval lead.

But the Wolves staged a terrific comeback to cut the visitors' lead to 28-22 and were pushing for an equalising score when centre Leroy Cudjoe, who had scored Huddersfield's late match-winning try in last week's play-off win over Crusaders, clinched an epic triumph with a 90-metre interception try.

Huddersfield's reward will be a semi-final trip to St Helens next Friday if, as seems likely, they are chosen by Mick Potter's men in Sunday's Club Call announcement.

That would leave defending champions Leeds with a home tie against League leaders Wigan on Saturday.
