“Warrington v Hull FC: Andy Last wary of wounded Wolves

THERE are ample reasons Hull FC can defeat Warrington Wolves tonight but interim head coach Andy Last has gone to the “extreme” of not even mentioning their opponents’ line-up to rid any blasé attitude.

Warrington could have called the game off after seeing six players sidelined due to Covid track and trace protocols.

Their pack is depleted with Great Britain’s Chris Hill, Jack Hughes and Joe Philbin missing.

Hull also have the memory of their last meeting to charge them up, the humiliating 38-4 defeat in March that resulted in coach Lee Radford being sacked.

But Last – who got his first win with Sunday’s 31-12 victory over Huddersfield Giants – insisted: “We’ve not touched on that.

“There may be a couple of whispers and chats between themselves but what’s apparent is when you look at that squad Blake Austin, Daryl Clark, Stefan Ratchford and Gareth Widdop are all still in there.

“There’s plenty of quality. We can’t focus on what’s happened at Warrington. We’ve to make sure we take care of our own business.

“It’s a dangerous game for Hull FC because of what’s happened as we’ve been notorious for taking our foot off the gas in a game we’re expected to win.

“I’ve gone to the extremes of not even mentioning what their potential line-up could be. I’ve not referenced their squad.”
