Warrington Wolves 48 Featherstone Rovers 24: Myler hat-trick leaves Rovers on the ropes

Featherstone Rovers coach Daryl Powell was proud of his side's gutsy show as they went down to Super League side Warrington.

Richie Myler crossed for a hat-trick of tries as the holders ended Featherstone's nine-match winning run.

"They rattled us early on, and that made life difficult," said Powell.

"But the players responded and got back.

"We looked on par at times in the first half before they struck us just before half-time.

"The physicality of Warrington got on top of us at the ruck area, and they are an outstanding team, despite a few missing.

"We won the second half 12-10 until Chris Riley's late try, and that showed our determination.

"Jessie Joe Parker was really good in the centre and our halves, Liam Finn and Kyle Briggs, had quite a bit of control in the second half."

Warrington boss Tony Smith admitted his side were not at their best.

He said: "We weren't great. We have been better and more efficient.

"We dropped our guard a bit, which is, I suppose, natural and human.

"The whole occasion suited them more than us.

"A few of our players were off their game, and you only need two or three to be like that and it can affect the performance."

But Smith did pay tribute to full-back Richie Mathers and hard-working forward Mike Cooper, who made his return from a loan spell at Castleford.
