WATCH: Green hoping to create another Magic memory for Hull FC

The towering prop engrained himself in Black and Whites folklore with his famous match-winning score in the 22-16 derby win over Hull KR at Manchester in 2013.

Green, of course, memorably crossed from Danny Houghton's hopeful kick in the 78th minute despite being offside, video referee Steve Ganson tracking the wrong runner when he watched replays back.

As Hull prepare to face their city rivals again this evening, in the final game of this year's Magic Weekend at Newcastle's St James' Park, it remains a lasting image.

"It definitely is and it's a really good memory," said Green, who will hope fellow props Scott Taylor and Mickey Paea are fit enough to resume for Lee Radford's injury-ravaged side.

"It's something I always get reminded of this time of year. It was a really good year back then and a really good win.

"I do ([pinch myself). I was only 21 or 22 when it happened and had not played many games but all that limelight came straight after.

"They are obviously good memories but obviously for us and not Hull KR.

"It's something we're hoping to replicate this time around hopefully just not in quite such controversial circumstances.

"Magic is a good concept and we do really enjoy it."

Green will be expected to take on extra responsibility given prop colleague Josh Bowden is out for the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in last week's Challenge Cup win at Featherstone Rovers when backs Carlos Tuimavave and Fetuli Talanoa also suffered serious injuries.

"It's really bad for Josh," he said.

"He's been cornerstone of our pack and I'm gutted him but I'm sure he'll knuckle down hard and get himself right for next year.

"It's the way it's going right now but adversity affects all teams. It's a challenge we're looking to overcome.

"I had bad memories there (Featherstone) a few years before that as I tore my ankle ligaments there on that same pitch in Rich Whiting's testimonial.

"That was in the back of my mind actually and I was a bit nervous about it but luckily I came though it unscathed. It's just unfortunate quite a few others did get injured."

Hull KR are in the wars, too, with their own injury problems ahead of this evening's game.

But Green insisted: "It's always tough in the derby and Sunday will be the same again.

"We're all aware. It's a massive game for both teams and all the players on the big stage."
