We can only get better as season goes on, warns four-try Hall

FOUR-TRY Ryan Hall helped destroy Hull FC and then warned the rest that free-flowing Leeds Rhinos are only just beginning their resurgence.

The England winger's personal haul proved crucial as they swept aside their Yorkshire rivals 48-24 to ease into the Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round.

But he was quick to praise his colleagues after the improving Super League champions – who had stuttered through the early part of the season – again proved they are returning to their finest form.

"A winger's job is made very easy by all the hard work done in the middle," said Hall, who capped off his performance with a 90-metre runaway effort.

"All the forwards, half-backs, full-back and everyone were outstanding.

"I get all the plaudits but they just kept putting me away and my job's just to finish them.

"We are back on track again though. We started (the season) a bit dodgy but we're getting back to like our old selves again and we're throwing in some new stuff too.

"You have to do that to progress. We've been trying to integrate these new ideas for a while and it's clicking."

Hull had opened well but were then stunned as their slick opponents turned on the style at the end of the first half to pull away to a 30-10 interval lead.

Hall scored twice in that period and then completed his hat-trick soon after the restart benefiting form further splendid approach play.

"It was very satisfying compared to last year when we fell at the first hurdle against Saints," he said. "We knew it'd be another tough draw – away at Hull – but came through the tie and hats off to all the boys. Some of the stuff they did in the middle was outstanding."

Brian McClennan's side are aiming for their first success in the famous knockout competition since 1999 and the Leeds-born player admitted they were lifted by the hard-fought result at KC Stadium.

"We've set out a plan and it (Wembley) is in our minds," said Hall.

"We're taking each step at a time though which you have to do.

"You can't get too far ahead of yourself as we did last year as you pay the consequences."

Last season's Super League top try-scorer, Hall failed to cross once until Leeds's sixth game this term but has now reaped 10 from the last seven.
