We'll focus on what we need to do – Maguire

Wigan coach Michael Maguire yesterday avoided fanning the flames of ill feeling between his side and Leeds Rhinos as they prepare for a potentially explosive semi-final this weekend.

The sides meet again on Saturday – just a fortnight after their last compelling encounter – for a place in the Engage Super League Grand Final.

Leeds shaded that match at the DW Stadium 27-26 11 days ago but this time the stakes are higher with a trip to Old Trafford on the line at Headingley.

Maguire is refusing to get involved in any war of words between his League Leaders' Shield winners and the reigning champions.

Injured Leeds star Jamie Peacock has accused Wigan's Thomas Leuluai and Mark Riddell of cowardice. The England captain, who is sidelined with ruptured knee ligaments, was angered by the duo's actions as Rhinos stand-off Danny McGuire lay injured in that last meeting. Leuluai and Riddell believed McGuire had obstructed George Carmont late in the game and stood remonstrating as he awaited treatment.

It emerged McGuire had suffered a serious knee injury in the incident and Peacock said the behaviour of Leuluai and Riddell "doesn't get any more cowardly".

Maguire confirmed reports that Leuluai had apologised after the game but did not want to be drawn further on the matter when asked yesterday.

Maguire said: "All we are doing is concentrating on what we need to do. We're looking for a great performance from our team, that's what it's about at the moment."

He added: "There is plenty of history between both the clubs and it makes for a great game."

Wigan have not played at Old Trafford for seven years and have not won a Grand Final since their only Super League success in 1998.

Sam Tomkins is fit after dislocating his finger and veteran scrum-half Deacon could also come back into contention.
