Working dog sales beat record

Average price records were beaten again at the spring sale of working dogs at Skipton.

Sally and Lil, two 18-month-old black and white bitches from the same litter, were responsible for the two highest prices at 3,900 guineas and 3,600 guineas respectively. Both were bred by Meirion Williams of Welshpool.

Sally has been in the hands of North Yorkshire trainer John Bell of Howden, Selby, since last autumn, and he sold her to another North Yorkshire handler.

Meirion Williams, above left, brought forward Lil, and sold her to Anne Brookes, of Kettering, Northants.

Total entry was a record 128 and the average 2,114 for 41 broken registered dogs was a new mart record.
