Bradford City v Walsall: Simon Grayson anticipates rapid resolution over Bantams job

The Bantams bring the curtain down on their home campaign tonight with a visit from Walsall.

With the play-offs mathematically out of reach following the weekend loss to Southend United attention at Valley Parade has now turned to next season and whether Grayson remains in charge.

He signed a short-term deal until the end of the season when succeeding Stuart McCall in February after rebuffing interest from several other clubs.

“I had a brief conversation with Edin last week,” said Grayson to The Yorkshire Post. “It was more a case of touching base on a few things than anything else.

“Once we get this game out of the way I would imagine we will have a more detailed look on Wednesday or Thursday at what happens next.

“There are a lot of things to discuss. By the back end of the week I will have a better idea of where we are at.

“The club needs to know and so do I. Whether I crack on with the job or the club goes in a different direction, either way there needs to be a decision.

“It definitely won’t be a long, drawn-out process. I know in my mind what needs to be done.

“The club will also have its ideas and we will see where we are at after this meeting.”

Wage budgets, recruitment plans and the club’s infrastructure are all likely to be on the agenda when Grayson sits down with Rahic.

Bradford have lost ten times in front of their own supporters so, for now, their priority is rounding off a disappointing home campaign on a high against a Saddlers side still in danger of being relegated.

“Everyone wanted to be in the play-offs so it is disappointing to miss out,” Grayson said ahead of a match that will see a minute’s silence held in honour of the 56 victims of the 1985 fire disaster.

“But we want to finish with a victory.”
