The much-travelled winger is in the side that travels to Championship rivals London Scottish today looking to make his mark after joining from National League Two North Sheffield Tigers two weeks ago.

Wilson, 25, has played for Rotherham Titans and Yorkshire Carnegie previously and was Ealing Trailfinders’ top try-scorer last term.

He joined rugby league side Sheffield Eagles in June but made just one appearance off the bench against Hull KR before heading to Tigers in August.

Wilson said: “I didn’t get as much game-time as I’d have liked but I gave it a go and it didn’t work out.

“I was actually going to give up full-time rugby and go get a job as after leaving the Eagles I really wasn’t sure what to do next.

“I had a good opportunity with some good connections through Sheffield Tigers in terms of getting a job and they treated me really well there.

“So I played my rugby for fun there but I’d been speaking to Clive (Griffiths) on and off throughout my time there and he explained they had quite a lot of injuries so would I be interested.

“I was looking to go into sales with Gripple, the steel company in Sheffield, and I was really excited by that.

“But at the same time I thought I’m still only 25 so let’s give it another go in the Championship and see what happens.

“I’m really looking forward to it now. The coaching, facilities and squad here are great.”

Simon Humberstone is recalled at fly-half after impressing off the bench in last week’s narrow win over Nottingham.

Hooker Ben Hunter replaces David Nelson and Matt Challinor returns at lock with Morgan Eames included among the replacements.

Jason Hill makes his first competitive start for the Knights at No 8 as Aaron Carpenter misses the game with a head injury while young back-row Sam Jones is on the bench, making him the first Academy product to be selected in a Knights Championship match day 22.
