Rovers hit back in adversity

FRENCHMAN Mathieu Baudry stepped off the bench early in the game for the injured Andy Butler and was one of Doncaster Rovers' heroes as they hit back from 2-0 down to collect a point at high-flying Shrewsbury.

Goals from Mat Sadler and Carlton Morris put the hosts in the driving seat before substitutes Baudry and Issam Ben Khemis earned a draw.

“We showed great character to come from two goals down because Shrewsbury are a good side,” said Baudry.

“They will be up there at the end of the season so I’m really proud of the team getting a point as we were a lot calmer in the second-half. I always fancy myself to score a few goals and we are a side that does not give up and the two goals we scored showed that.”

Shrewsbury controlled the first half for long stages and defender Sadler swept home after Doncaster were unable to clear Shaun Whalley’s corner.

The hosts continued to press with Whalley’s free-kick headed over by Carlton Morris before Alex Rodman saw his shot turned away by Ian Lawlor.

The goalkeeper made an outstanding save at the start of the second half from Aristote Nsiala’s header, but Shrewsbury doubled their lead seven minutes after the restart through Norwich loanee Morris, who hammered home following Nsiala’s knock down.

Baudry headed in at the near post and Rovers equalised with 14 minutes remaining when a deep cross from Ben Khemis was adjudged to have crossed the line despite the efforts of goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
