Team of the Week: Leeds United and Middlesbrough lead the way in Yorkshire's latest line-up

ONCE AGAIN it is Team of the Week time and the candidates are not as free-flowing as the previous week - with a number of Yorkshire sides flattering to deceive.

Goalkeeper, Cameron Dawson (Sheffield Wednesday): His exploits in the second half prevented the Owls from being on the receiving end of a rout at Brentford.

Defence, Luke Ayling (Leeds United): Got the all-important breakthrough against Rotherham and typically committed in his defensive duties. One of many excelling under Bielsa and his brave new world, showing his versatility when thrown into the centre of defence on Tuesday at the Liberty Stadium after an injury in the warm-up to Liam Cooper.

Dael Fry (Middlesbrough): Softening the blow following the loss of Ben Gibson and produced a commanding performance to continue his assured start to the season at Bristol City.

Ethan Pinnock (Barnsley): Strong and resolute in his defensive duties and played in part in the Reds’ recording a historic third league clean sheet at the start of a season.

Midfield, Niall Mason (Doncaster Rovers): An accomplished performance for Rovers at Burton on a day when few of his team-mates excelled.

Oliver Norwood (Sheffield United): Another classy performance and a second man-of-the-match display from the ball-playing Blades midfielder. Looks a strong acquisition.

Mateusz Klich (Leeds United): Grew into the game against Rotherham United and was a powerful force as Leeds dominated on the restart. Big success story this season so far and was steady again in Tuesday’s draw at Swansea.

Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough): Superb centre for Assombalonga’s goal and went close to a goal. Stylish performance, married with hard work at Bristol City.

Forwards, Kemar Roofe (Leeds United): Did not hit the heights of Derby, but had his moments, none moreso with a fine killer second goal for the Whites. Has started the season with aplomb, adding another in Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw at Swansea City.

Billy Sharp (Sheffield United): A fox-in-the-box winner from the Blades’ irresistible captain. Took his demotion to the bench on the chin and is providing the answers. Never doubt him.

Britt Assombalonga (Middlesbrough): Another goal and turned in an industrious display, the sort of which is not lost upon Tony Pulis. A constant threat up top at Ashton Gate.
