The classy former Shrewsbury schemer is the subject of talks between the Bees and the Swans, but Leeds and West Brom remain keen.

Brighton have increased their bid for Sheffield United defender Jack O’Connell to £8m, according to reports.

Albion have made O’Connell one of their top targets and have already seen their opening offer of £6m rejected by the Blades, who are reluctant to lose the Liverpudlian, one of their leading players over the last two seasons.

Hull City have been thwarted in their bid to sign Brighton winger Jiri Skalak, who reportedly underwent a medical at Millwall.

The Tigers - keen to bring in some new wing options - have seen a bid rejected for Skalak by the Seagulls and are likely to move onto other targets.

Brentford chief Dean Smith is set to offer former Tigers full-back Moses Odubajo a contract.

The 24-year-old has been back training with his former club this summer, but has suffered a slight injury setback. Nevertheless, the Bees are still hopeful of tying up a deal for him.

Odubajo left Hull City at the end of his contract in May and has been a free agent since. He had a brief stint training with Scottish Premier League champions Celtic before returning to Brentford to help regain his fitness.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross has confirmed that he remains in the hunt for Bradford City forward Charlie Wyke.

Wyke - currently recovering from a pre-season injury - is the top target for Ross, but with a minimum of two attackers still needed before the transfer window shuts, other deals are being considered.

Ross said: “That is one we are continuing to pursue. We want to get him, I think that is well-documented, and the club has been very patient in its pursuit, although that will have to come to an end one way or another soon – hopefully in our favour.

“We need an out-and-out striker and maybe another one, and I hope we might get one in before the weekend – maybe, possibly! “I honestly do not worry about it.

Doncaster Rovers remain in talks to sign trialists Romario Vieira and Paul Taylor and developments are likely soon.
