Scunthorpe United v Leeds United: Banking on O'Brien to plug the gaps

Championship: SIMON GRAYSON is backing new signing Andy O'Brien to help cure Leeds United's defensive woes.

The former Bradford City defender has joined on a month's loan from Bolton and is likely to make his debut today as Leeds look to end a five-game run that has brought just one win and seen 15 goals conceded by their leaky backline.

Grayson said: "We looked at things and we need a new centre-back in there to give us dominance and experience. Hopefully, all those qualities he has will rub off on our players over the next few weeks.

"Andy has had a fantastic career, and has great experience. He is a leader. We have players who we know are good players and I would like to think Andy will help them.

"We are glad Bolton have let him out. He knows all about Leeds from when he was young and down the road at Bradford. He has been at Newcastle, where there are big expectancy levels."
