Share of scoring has Cloutier beaming

For the past three seasons, Hull have often been labelled as a team relying too much on top goalscorer Jereme Tendler. And while the 30-year-old Canadian is again leading the scoring again this season, he is one of three Stingrays players currently in the top 10 points-scoring table for the whole league.

Guillaume Doucet and Jason Silverthorn are pushing Tendler close in terms of scoring, with young British centre Matty Davies picking up from where he left off in a career-best campaign last time around.

“I’m pleased with the scoring across the team,” said Cloutier.

“Tends is doing what he always does, while Doucet and Silverthorn are contributing a lot.

“We’ve just got to make sure we keep it going.“

Cloutier’s team booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup on Wednesday after a 5-2 win against Coventry Blaze, who missed out from a group also comprising Sheffield Steelers, Nottingham Panthers and Cardiff Devils.

It marks a fine achievement by Cloutier’s team given the stature of their group rivals, something he wants them to build on tonight when they host league leaders Belfast Giants, who won 3-2 on their previous visit in September.

“Belfast don’t give you a lot, but we know we can give them a good game – particularly at home,” added Cloutier.
