Sheffield 86-92 Glasgow: Overtime loss for Sharks

After a huge victory last week against the then unbeaten Leicester Riders, the Sheffield Sharks  suffered an overtime 86-92 defeat at the hands of Glasgow Rocks in a thrilling contest at the EIS.

The home side came into last night’s game on a high after impressing last week on the road against the Riders and got off to a great start.

Although they enjoyed good spells in the game, the Sharks were pegged back regularly throughout. Jerrold Brooks impressed once again for the Sharks showing why he earned a place in last week’s all star five.

With the Sharks lead at just four points at half time, it was all to play for in the third quarter. MVP Mike Tuck helped keep the scoreboard ticking over nicely and was backed up with points from Colin Sing, T.J Robinson and Mike Cook. Tuck went on to end the night with 19 points of his own.

The Sharks came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders in the fourth hoping to put the game to bed, but it wasn’t to be. The win looked to be sealed with Brooks going to the line to put the game beyond Glasgow’s reach in the dying seconds, Brooks missed from the line with Glasgow going on to take the game to overtime with one second on the clock.

The Sharks looked defeated in overtime with the momentum firmly in Glasgow’s corner. Points from Mike Cook and Jerrold Brooks proved to be consolation, but it was Glasgow that left with the win.
