Sheffield United keeper Kenny on verge of QPR switch

GOALKEEPER Paddy Kenny is expected to join QPR after Sheffield United agreed to sell the player for a fee believed to be £750,000.

Kenny, 32, only returned to the United first team for the final two games of last season after serving a nine-month ban for failing a drugs test.

He had one year left on his contract at Bramall Lane but appears to have been lured to the capital by his former boss at United, and at Bury, Neil Warnock.

Kenny joined Sheffield United from Bury in 2002, initially on loan, but the move was made permanent in October of that year.

He made 278 appearances for the Blades and was capped seven times by the Republic of Ireland.

The Yorkshire Post understands the deal will be concluded in the next 24 to 48 hours.
