Sheffield United loan Sunderland's Reid

Blades manager Gary Speed has swooped for the creative Republic of Ireland international to give his United side more attacking options in midfield.

Reid, 28, will play for the club up to and inncluding the trip to Bristol City on November 27.

Reid started last season in blistering form for the Black Cats, but a succession of fitness problems have seen him fall from the reckoning, although he was used as a substitute in the recent Barclays Premier League draws with Arsenal and Manchester United.

"It's a big boost to have him here for a month," said Speed.

"He is of undoubted Premiership quality, and is a good addition to the squad."
