Sheffield United v Swansea City: Kenny will get warm reception on return – Blackwell

Championship: KEVIN BLACKWELL is tipping goalkeeper Paddy Kenny to get a 'terrific reception' today from Sheffield United supporters.

The former Republic of Ireland international is back in action against Swansea City after serving a nine-month drugs ban.

Kenny, 31, tested positive for the banned substance ephedrine following last season's play-off semi-final against Preston North End but always maintained that it was an innocent mistake caused by use of a cough remedy

His last appearance for the Blades came against Burnley in the play-off final at Wembley – and his return will set a new club record for the number of goalkeepers to start games in one season

Mark Bunn made 35 appearances on loan from Blackburn Rovers, Ian Bennett played six times, Carl Ikeme twice on loan from Wolves, and Steve Simonsen played seven games before returning to Stoke City this week.

The Blades can no longer qualify for this season's play-offs but opponents Swansea need a win to guarantee sixth spot.

Blackwell wants his Blades side to finish the season on a high, which could be bad news for play-off hopefuls Swansea.

The Welsh club currently sit in the final play-off spot in the Championship, just two points ahead of Blackpool.

"We have two games left and I want us to try and win them both," stressed Blackwell.

"The squad has lost twice in nine – a decent run – and we want to finish the season well.

"Paulo Sousa's side have had a good season and a very settled side, not just for this season but for the last three or four which has been key for them in playing together.

"There must be almost 80 per cent of their team still intact from last season whereas ours is only about 20 per cent and that has made a big difference. But we had a good result here the last time they came and we want the same again.

"They have two tough games left and won't relish coming here because we want to maintain our good home record.

"We are currently in 10th place and if we can remain in the top 10 it will have been a commendable effort given the circumstances."

Swansea have doubts over Alan Tate, who has missed the last three games with an ankle injury, but Angel Rangel is in line for a return from a groin injury

Striker Craig Beattie (hip) is out, while midfielders Ferrie Bodde and Jordi Lopez's seasons are already over.
