SkyBet: Ambrose aiming to become a screen star at Blades expense

Sheffield United need to be wary of Crystal Palace's fit-again midfield inspiration Darren Ambrose when the teams meet in this evening's televised game at Bramall Lane.

United have struggled for goals at home all season, while Palace missed the talented Ambrose during an eight-week injury absence.

However, the former Newcastle midfielder, who hit 20 goals last season, is back in action and back among the goals after scoring twice in the victory over Coventry last weekend.

Both teams are finding wins hard to come by, so look to Ambrose to find the net as the pick of the bets.

Barnsley followed up their 2-1 win at Preston with a thumping win over Ipswich at Portman Road, with Adam Hammill once more among the goals.

They host Portsmouth, who have Liam Lawrence available again after a ban, so Oakwell should be the place to see goals this afternoon.

Nobody can ever be sure what to expect from Leeds, but they are in a decent run of form and will fancy their chances even though Norwich captain Grant Holt is available. Last season's top scorer appealed a suspension after being sent off last weekend.

Doncaster recorded a fine victory at Portsmouth seven days ago and Sean O'Driscoll's side face another stern test of their promotion credentials when they meet third-placed Swansea at the Keepmoat.

Swansea's Scott Sinclair further enhanced his reputation with the winner against Middlesbrough last Sunday – his 12th of the season – and will be a real handful for Rovers, who have Billy Sharp available again after injury.

If you can get 2-1, back Sinclair to score.

Hull's troubles eased slightly with their 2-0 win at Preston, which followed a useful point from a draw at Leeds. They face an Ipswich side going through a poor run of form and have a great opportunity to pick up three points at the KC Stadium.

However, their lack of an out-and-out striker remains an issue and they are difficult to back.

Huddersfield's opponents, Exeter, were among the pre-season favourites for relegation but they have surprised many by producing some outstanding results.

Midfielder Ryan Harley is in double figures for the season and will pose a genuine threat to Town, who can be expected to form part of numerous multiple bets.

This game is far from a home banker, however.

Sheffield Wednesday have won their last three games in all competitions, but it is the league which matters above all and they are in danger of slipping out of the promotion picture.

The Owls are 2-1 to become the first team to win at MK Dons this season and gain what would be a third victory in four away league games. .

It is a tough game, but a tempting price.

Bradford have shown some encouraging signs of improvement recently, but today's opponents, Macclesfield, are also in a good run of form, having lost only once in seven games.

The Silkmen held Rotherham at Don Valley a few weeks back, which should be enough to discourage cautious punters.

Crewe's 16 league games this season have produced a huge 58 goals – a trend which should continue when Rotherham visit Gresty Road.

The Cheshire club have one of the leakiest defences in League Two, which should be encouraging news for Millers striker Adam Le Fondre, but they are also the top scorers.
