SkyBet: Too close to call as Terriers aim to press automatic claim

There Is no question where the most attractive fixture in the region takes place today, as Huddersfield take on Leeds at the Galpharm Stadium in a lunchtime kick-off.

Huddersfield have edged back into the play-off places with a run of three successive away wins and they know that victory over their big rivals will throw the automatic promotion race wide open.

Only a few months ago, it looked as if Leeds plus either Norwich are Charlton would go up into the Championship, but Colchester and Swindon are now in the mix and the Terriers have a golden opportunity to add their name to that list.

They remain unbeaten at home, winning 10 of their 16 matches, and for a stuttering Leeds, who were unimpressive again in their 2-0 win over Oldham on Tuesday, this is a real test.

Leeds are slight favourites, but on current form it is clear that is mainly down to reputation.

In truth, this match is too close to call, but there must be a strong possibility of a draw.

In the Championship, it is proving difficult to fathom Barnsley's form.

Any team that can win comfortably at Cardiff should be doing well, but the Tykes lost their three previous matches, including a crushing home defeat to bottom club Plymouth.

They are 11-8 favourites to beat Blackpool, but Ian Holloway's team have not conceded in three games and have won the last two and I would prefer to be with them at 2-1.

Neil Warnock remains as manager of Doncaster's opponents Crystal Palace for the time being at least and now the FA Cup is out of the way they will be able to concentrate more fully on league matters.

Palace were going well before being docked 10 points for going into administration and if they can regain their focus they are capable of winning at the Keepmoat, or at least picking up a point.

Sheffield Wednesday are back into their bad habits – losing games and struggling to score goals – and they face improving Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

The Royals are into the FA Cup quarter-finals, which may well prove to be a distraction and is sufficient to make me wary of backing them at odds on, even allowing for their seven-match unbeaten home run.

Sheffield United are also going well at home, winning six of the last eight and conceding only one goal in that time. They face Plymouth at Bramall Lane and are a stand out 6-4 to 'win to nil'.

Peter Taylor led Bradford to a super 3-1 win over League Two leaders Rochdale in midweek, but it is too early to assume the one-time England coach will cure the Bantams' home ills, even against bottom club Darlington.

City have not won in nine games at Valley Parade, since late October, so they cannot be trusted at 8-13 to defeat Steve Staunton's side, who were 2-1 winners at Rotherham last month.

The Millers did not impress in their draw with Shrewsbury on Monday and were lucky to escape with a draw.

They go to Burton, for whom Shaun Harrad has scored in eight of the last 11 games and can be backed at 2-1 to score in 90 minutes.
