Hide AdDinnington underlined their current form with a 20-14 home victory over third-placed Castleford.
Dinnington, playing with the slope in the first half, turned round 17-7 ahead and, although Castleford got the score back to 17-14, the home side sealed their win with a late penalty by centre Alec Donnelly, who had taken over the kicking after Darren Cannadine had missed three earlier attempts.
Bridlington moved up to fourth with a 43-24 home win against Selby, who have slipped to 11th despite having played two more games than all three teams below them.
Selby, 22-3 down at half-time, came back early in the second half with a try by scrum-half Matthew Smith, converted by Dan Porter, but Bridlington then opened a 36-10 lead before the visitors scored again.
