CAPTAIN Andrew Strauss led the way as England eased to an eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first npower Test at Lord's.

Strauss hit a fine 82 from just 88 balls before tickling an edge behind off the bowling of Shakib Al Hasan after the home side had been set 160 to win on the final day.

The Middlesex opener had marched to his 20th Test half-century at a run a ball, while Jonathan Trott finished unbeaten on (36) after Alastair Cook (23) had been unlucky to be given out lbw for the second time in the match.

Kevin Pietersen (10 no) struck consecutive boundaries to move England to within sight of victory, before Trott struck the winning run on the stroke of tea.

The victory was set up by an excellent bowling display from seamer Steven Finn this morning.

Playing in his first home Test the 21-year ended with second-innings figures of 5-87 to get his name on the honours board and give England a scent of victory.

The tourists had reached the close on Sunday on 328-5 following on, a lead of 105, but Finn and Yorkshire's Tim Bresnan (3-93) ensured they only added 54 runs to that tally.
