Stricker holds off Donald's charge
GOLF: England's Luke Donald shot a final-round 66 at Riviera Country Club near Los Angeles but American Steve Stricker held his nerve to win the Northern Trust Open.
Stricker secured a two-shot victory with a one-under 70 to get the job done, having led by six shots after 54 holes.
His win was enough to promote him to the world No 2 ranking at the expense of defending champion Phil Mickelson, who had needed a top-six finish to stay second behind Tiger Woods but finished 45th.
