VIDEO: Ride the St Leger course with John Reid
As final preparations are made for the 2014 St Leger which takes place at Doncaster on Saturday, Reid offers this amazing insight into the challenges that will face the jockeys on Town Moor.
Using cutting-edge technology with three different camera angles, Reid talks through the characteristics of the Town Moor course, judging the pace and having a horse that’s blessed with stamina and the ability to quicken to the finish line.

Hide AdReid’s big race successes also include the 1992 Epsom Derby on Dr Devious and the 1998 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Tony Bin.
First run in 1776, the St Leger is the world’s oldest Classic with horses and jockeys facing a stamina sapping test of one mile and six furlongs.
Past winners include Lester Piggott’s Nijinksy in 1970, the last horse to win the Triple Crown, and the Queen’s Dunfermline who prevailed in 1977 - Silver Jubilee year.
