Trinity sat third in Super League heading into this round, having firmly put themselves in contention for a play-offs spot.

It has been an impressive first half to the campaign especially considering the injuries they have suffered but also after a sobering 42-24 defeat at newly-promoted London on the opening day.

“We learned a lot of things from that defeat,” conceded Chester, who welcomes back captain Jacob Miller from a four-week lay off when they return to Ealing.

“If you’re slightly off in certain areas you’re going to get burned.

“If you try and overplay or give them some cheap field position they are a team that can throw the ball around. They caught us off guard. They were the best team on the day so we’re looking forward to going down there and hopefully getting a bit of revenge.”

Bottom-placed London are in desperate need of a victory themselves, having picked up just two more wins since the success over Wakefield.

Chester sensed a “relaxed attitude” in the build-up to that last match and on the day of the game.

“It was certainly a long bus journey home,” he said.

“But the biggest lessons we’ve learned from when we played London is that we need to be more direct; we tried playing around them instead of through them. We needed to be a lot better defensively with our intent and our movements.

“Sometimes, you just have to hold your hand up as a coach and say you got a few things wrong during the week.

“I’d like to think we’re a better team now. We’ve had some really intense sessions this week. Having Junior (Sa’u) in the squad – he’s very vocal – has given everyone a lift and having Milky (Miller) back, there’s a different feel to the team.”

Former Kiwi centre Sa’u is set for his debut after arriving on a month’s loan from Salford Red Devils and Chester added: “It’s a really important game for us.

“We have Catalans and Hull FC on our heels, and a few others. A win this week – and with some of those other teams playing each other – gives us a bit of breathing space. It’s the biggest game we’ve had in a while with what a win could do to those below.”
