Fulford moved up two places to third, a further four strokes back, while Kirkbymoorside leapfrogged ahead of York in fourth.

Cross Trophy 11 was held at Sandburn Hall, where Aldwark Manor's Chris Dale and Clive Forster, both 14-handicappers, produced a superb 11-under-par net 61.

Dale contributed three net eagles, including two 'holes-in-one' by taking two at both the par-3 sixth and the par-3 13th.

The pair also carded seven birdies and only dropped two shots, at holes eight and 14.

The early pace had been set by Rowland Wragg and T Gudgeon (Forest Park) with a fine 65 – one of a handful of such scores that ultimately filled the bottom half of the prize list.

Malton & Norton's Ian Johnson and N Seager were swift to overhaul them with a 64, but they too found themselves rapidly bested, the 63 of Steve Edmondson and Dave Nunn (Fulford) itself being overhauled within half an hour by eventual winners Dale and Forster.

Gordon Reynolds and Graham Shields (Easingwold) made a late run, but had to settle for a 62 and second spot after closing with three pars, while father and son John and Jordan Tattersall enjoyed another high finish with 63.

This gave them fourth place and followed a finish among the prizes in Cross 10 at Malton & Norton two weeks earlier.

Another father and son paring, Richard Mathews and son Ciaran of the host club, placed fifth with the best of the 64s on countback.

Fulford's Andy Evans and D Tysall took top honours in Cross Trophy 12 at the Oaks with a nine-under-par 63.

After dropping their only shot of the round they carded four net birdies in five holes from the ninth, and added net eagles at 14 and 16 to prevail on countback with a superb inward 29.

Competition proved fierce with only two strokes separating the top 16 pairs.

Tom George and Alex Nelson (York) set the mark with 64, although their back nine ultimately betrayed them in the countback for prizes.

Jez Stewart and Dave Pittman (Aldwark Manor) had a better 64 to nudge ahead of Mike Pickering and Paul Walton (Easingwold), but last pair out John Preston and Paul Marsay (Malton & Norton) collected fourth prize on a back six countback.

Keith Davies and Alan Russell (Malton & Norton) took second with 63 and Paul Carrick and Dave Fenton (Pike Hills) were third,
