However, neither British Masters champion Matt nor brother Alex, a rising amateur star, can boast of victory in the Lindrick Corporate Golf Classic.

Their father Russell was in the winning team two summers ago as accountancy firm Wells Richardson triumphed, and commented he had "showed the young lads how it's done!"

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 22 this year when Allianz insurers team will be defending the trophy won in 2015, when they were captained by Lindrick GC member Jon Simpkin.

Lindrick's marketing chairman Julian Maturi said: "The Classic is aimed at businesses who want to entertain their clients but don't want the hassle or expense of running their own golf day.

"We put on a real five-star day with champagne, champagne and more champagne. Everyone gets a polo shirt, (Titleist) Pro V's and a goody bag just for turning up.

"There are good prizes for the top three teams and there is the hole in one prize (a set of new irons) that is something we do for all our open competitions.

"It's not a day that is overly serious and most companies repeat book due to the fact that their customers insist on it."

The Classic gets underway, after a champagne brunch, with a shotgun start at 2pm and the prize presentation takes place immediately after the competition.

Complimentary refreshments are provided on-course by the hospitality buggy during play and the prize giving is followed by an evening meal, which includes wine and entertainment from an after-dinner speaker.

Among the prizes are those for straightest drive on the first hole, longest drive on the 14th, and hitting the green at the 18th.

The cost is £850 per team of four, and anyone interested should call Paula King on 01909 475282 to reserve their place.
