A place further back was Ben Firth, of Moortown GC, with scores of 69 75 and Hull GC's Steve Robins was 42nd (73 73).

Walker, who recently reached the semi-finals of the Spanish Amateur championship, was two under at the turn in round one after birdies at holes one, five and eight and a dropped shot at three.

He shed further shots at 11, 14 and 17, but birdies at 16 and the last ensured he finished under par at halfway.

His second and winning round was a calmer affair, a bogey at the third following a birdie at the second before he played the last 15 holes in one under with 14 pars and a birdie at 13.

Hutchinson had carded three birdies in the last four holes on the way out in round one to be two under. However, the morning back nine saw him sandwich a double bogey at the 198-yard par-3 15th with single dropped shots at 10 and 17.

In the afternoon he played the last six holes in two under with the aid of birdies at 13, 17 and 18.

England A international Whiteoak had three birdies and three bogeys in his morning 69. The afternoon brought two birdies, but also a pair of bogeys and a double bogey at the third.

Hague did not drop a shot in the morning, carding birdies at holes two and 13 to add to 16 pars.

However, the afternoon saw him shed shots at fives holes with none regained to par.

The Hampshire Hog will be played at North Hants GC on Sunday to complete Hampshire Salver weekend.
