Yorkshire golf: Oulton Hall's Kevin Taylor and Malcolm Crowson heading for final on Ryder Cup stage

After a closely-fought qualifying competition at High Legh Park, the pair emerged with 24pts and on the Brabazon Course on September 9-10 will look to add the UK title in the better ball Stableford competition.

Taylor and Crowson played solid golf in difficult, wet conditions and go forward to the final at the iconic Ryder Cup venue in the Midlands alongside the winners of 19 other qualifying competitions across the UK and Ireland.

“This is the second year for our 9 Hole Championship and it’s proving to be an incredibly popular format,” said Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf.

“It gives people the chance to play championship golf after work, getting all the excitement of top level competition in half the time.”

Entry to all of the American Golf Championships, including the American Golf 9 Hole, Junior, Ladies and Senior Championships, is free.

Oakdale's men's monthly medal Division One category saw five-handicapper Jake Twineham triumph with a net 68.

Division Two winner was Mervyn Robinson with a 69 off 13 while Michael Waterhouse, 25 handicap, won Division Three with a net 72.

The Bradford will hold their Annual Junior Open on Sunday, August 28th, an event that has been selected as a Nominated Junior Open for the Yorkshire Junior Order of Merit.

The winner will receive a £200 golf voucher, and there will be prizes for first, second and third in two separate divisions as well as for best gross, best girl (net), longest drive and nearest the pin.

All competitors will enjoy free use of the practice facilities, including free range balls.

Bracken Ghyll's first Junior Open will be staged on Friday, July 22. Places are starting to fill up fast with five net prizes, best gross and several spot prizes.
