Jets opened the scoring with Lottysha Cato finding the net and having the best of the opening exchanges. But, after a slow start, Thunder found their form and scored seven unanswered before Jets pulled three back to end the quarter 11-12 behind.

It was end-to-end action in an exciting second quarter with neither side managing to pull out a lead and Jess Shaw and Sally Butters, ultimately named player of the match, commanding mid-court for Jets. Both sides added 13 points to give Thunder a narrow lead going into half-time with the score 24-25.

Nikala Smith joined the Jets attacking line-up after the break, while Steph Wilson came on five minutes into the quarter. The two sides continued to be closely matched but Thunder managed to edge it, pulling out a four goal lead at the end of quarter three.

Meg Clark replaced Potter going into the final 15 minutes which saw the intensity reach new levels. It continued to be end-to-end and Jets edged the quarter but it wasn’t enough to win the match with the final score 51-54.

After three games in the past week, it’s a seven days until Jets next game when they travel to take on Team Bath who, in the night’s other game, lost 34-51 to Hertfordshire Mavericks.
